Aquatic First Aid Level 1
Cost: £70
This is an 8 hour course aimed to provide those involved with water activities with the basic knowledge and skills required to render first aid should the need arise.
The award meets the requirements for all BCU Coaches. We will be delivering the course either as two evenings or as a 1 full day.
The course will include:
- The role of a first aider
- Taking action in an emergency
- Dealing with respiratory problems
- Dealing with circulation problems
- Environmental related injuries
- Head, bone, joint and muscle injuries
- Dealing with an unconscious adult
The course will be delivered by our expert technical advisor Keith Hampton, a highly qualified coach with many years of experience. It is recognised that with this you will get a real depth of knowledge to help understand what is best practice in dealing with first aid situations. You will also get a BCU Lifeguards Aquatic First Aid Manual as part of the fee.
The qualification will be valid for three years.
Participants must be aged 14 or over to be on the course.
Further to the course fees there is a registration fee to the BCU Lifeguards, this is £6 (BCU Members) or £9 (non BCU Members).
