BCU 4star Canoe Leader Assessment

Course Description
This is a two day assessment aiming to achieve the UKCC BCU Canoe 4 Star Award. Throughout the course candidates will be expected to demonstrate: grade 2 river running skills, open water skills, lining, poling and navigation skills. Candidates will also be tested on their rescue skills, safety, leadership and theory.
The course will be based in Yorkshire in the Teesdale area. Accommodation will be provided for the night prior to the start of the course and the second night after the first day of the course.
Candidates will be expected to bring their own necessary equipment for the assessment however should you need any particular item we will try to help as best we can.
Pre-requisite
Candidate must be aged 18+. Candidate must hold a first aid award (8 hours ). Candidate must bring evidence of 12 trips with at least: three different grade 2 river trips and three different open water journeys with winds force 4 as a member and as a leader three different grade 1-2 river trips and three different open water journeys winds force 3. Candidate must also have completed two days of 4 star training and have attended the BCU White Water Safety and Rescue Course.
