Course Description
You will receive two days of training from one of the UK’s best Coaches, Ross Montandon. The course will cover all the requirements that is expected to become a four star leader. The course will be based in North Wales.
A day will look at personal skills paddling on grade 2/3 whitewater, using river features, running rapids, surfing waves and setting up safety. A second day will be spent on leadership, where a practical approach to learning is essential. Throughout the day you will have plenty of time to practice leadership skills in a four star environment. We will also include
- Leader Equipment
- Group Dynamics
- River Safety and River Reading
- Personal skills of a four star leader
- The Remit, What rivers can we lead on as a four star leader
We will also include an evening session on Saturday night, which will be fitted to the groups needs.
Although there is a set of guidelines of what is needed to be covered on this course. We aim to highly cover the content but also to suit your needs and aims.
Accommodation is not provided but if you require it we can organise accommodation at cost price. This generally is preferable as we would like the group together for an evening theory session.
Pre-requisites
Min age 18. Hold the appropriate 3 star award or have the equivalent skills. Having done the White Water Safety and Rescue training is advisable but not essential.
