Course Description
You will receive two days of training from one of Britains best Level 5 Coaches working on all the skills required for the relevant award. The course will cover aspects such as: personal paddling, using eddies, paddling drops and rolling on white water. The course will also look into rescues, safety and leadership as well as the necessary theory associated with paddling on white water. The course will be mostly based around paddling grade 3/ 4 rapids. The course will also look into the following:
- Making eddies
- Paddling down safe and realistic lines on grade 4 water
- Positioning in the flow
- Running drops
- Using and avoiding features
- White Water Roll
- Skilful application of leadership principles
- Safety awareness—risk
- management
The course will be based in Yorkshire in the Teesdale area. Accommodation will be provided for the night prior to the start of the course and the night after the first day.
Pre-requisites
Candidate will need to be minimum age 18. Candidate must be confident at paddling on grade 3/4 rivers. Ideally the candidate should have completed the 4 star assessment as this is a pre-requisite to completed the assessment for this award.
