BCU Canoe 3 Star Award Training

The purpose of the award
This two day training course teaches more advanced skills used in open canoeing. The award is a continuation from the two star award improving and perfecting the basics strokes and learning new techniques. The three star is also a pre-requisite for the Level 2 Coach. Course includes skills such as:
- Crossing the flow on the river
- Manoeuvring in and out of eddies
- Poling
- Sailing,
- Towing
- Reverse figure of eight,
- Improve all strokes to an intermediate standard
Day one of the course will be onsite at the centre covering all flat water skills. Day two will be a trip on the River Derwent finishing at the Matlock rapids.
Basic equipment such as boats, paddles and buoancy aids can be provided.
Pre-requisites
Candidates needs to either hold the two star award or be at the appropriate level. Minimum age 14.
This course does not include the assessment. At the end of the course an action plan will be made to give the candidate aims and objectives to complete before moving on to the assessment.
Payment required to secure a place, together with completed registration form. No refund given for failure to attend.
