BCU 3 Star White Water Training (Kayak)
Cost: £120
What is it?
This training course teaches more advanced skills used in kayaking. The award is a continuation from the two star award improving and perfecting the basic strokes and learning new techniques such as eskimo rescues, rolling, towing and an introduction to the techniques used on moving water. The three star is also a pre-requisite for the Level 2 Coach. You will learn:
- Eskimo rescues
- Rolling
- Towing
- Moving across the flow of the water
- Paddling into and out of eddies
- Improve all strokes to an intermediate standard
The course will be split into 4 one and a half hour sessions based on site covering the flat water element of the award. There will then be a whole day offsite on the River Derwent finishing at Matlock rapids to cover the white water part of the syllabus. If you require any help with transport we can organise a car sharing to help with this. The weekend course is much the same accept the four sessions are all squeezed into a full day making it a two day course.
Basic equipment such as boats, paddles and buoyancy aids can be provided.
