BCU Paddlesport 2 Star Award

What is it?
This is the next advancement from the Introduction to Canoeing and Kayaking – BCU 1 Star course. The aim of the course is to improve you to an intermediate paddler and gain the BCU 2 Star Award.
The course is split in to kayak and canoe sessions aiming bring your skills level to a two star standard in both types of craft. You will cover:
- Efficient forward paddling
- Turning on the move
- Moving sideways
- Preventing a capsize
- Moving in and out of a confined space
- Self and Peer Rescues
We work on a ratio of 1:6 to give plenty of personal tuition throughout the course. The course is spread out over six training sessions and an assessment at the end. This is to give plenty of time to reflect on skills being taught and time to keep practicing and really embed the strokes in to your personal skill set.
Necessary equipment such as boats, paddles and bouancy aids will be provided.
Pre-requisites
Although not essential ideally candidates should be aged 14 and over. Candidates should also either hold the 1 star award or be of that ability.
Payment is required to secure a place, together with a completed registration form. No refund will be given for failure to attend the course however refund will be given if the course is cancelled. Costs also include £5 registration fee to collect your certificate.
When is it?
