Kayak Rolling Clinic

What is it?

This is a mini course specifically designed to try and get you to be able to roll a kayak. Rolling a kayak can be quite a complex manoeuvre made even more difficult by having to perform it under water. Therefore we have put together a course that will be purely focused on getting you to roll a kayak. We will try and tailor the course to your abilities; here is an example of some of the things we will be looking at as part of the course.

• Support strokes (preventing the need to do a roll and ties in to rolling)
• Correct body positioning
• Keeping the blade at the surface of the water
• Hand rolling
• Pawlata Roll (training roll)
• C to C Roll
• Setting up under water
• Sweep rolls
• Back Deck rolls
• Rolling in moving water

We run the course on 1:4 ratio, this is to give you that individual personal tuitition needed to get to grips with this complex skill.

Also as part of the course we are offering a follow on session. For an extra £10 we will give you another one and a half hour session in case you feel the need for that extra bit of time to help nail it.

Who’s if for?

We would like to open this course to nearly all abilities. It could be you have never been taught to roll, never tried, you used to be able to roll and now you can’t or even if you can roll but think it needs improving or want to learn other ways to roll. The only real pre-requisite we would ask for is that you can generally control the kayak on the water and don’t mind going upside down.

• 25th August 2012, Clinic runs from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The follow on session (extra £10), runs 1st September 2012 from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Course Tutor: TBC
• 15th September 2012, Clinic runs from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The follow on session (extra £10), runs 29th September 2012 from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Course Tutor: TBC
