Canoe River Litter Pick Team

Welcome our new initiative at LOPC. We want helpful volunteers to join us, go canoeing, and help clean up our river. It is absolutely free to join and free to come along. All we want to do is go canoeing up the river pick as much rubbish as we can find

The Problem

Every year tonnes of rubbish is thrown, dumped or found its way into the River Soar. As well as being a hazard to our wildlife it also completely ruins the place spoiling what should be a pleasant place for people to come and enjoy, whether it’s a canal boat trip, going canoeing or kayaking, or even a walk along the river side.

Our aim

We would like to start off by meeting up once every 3 months and spending half a day paddling up the river and picking up as much rubbish as we can in that time. It is hoped as the team grows we’ll be able to do them more and more frequently.

It is essential you give us your email address as this is how we will contact you to inform you about up-coming canoe litter picks. Once you have joined there is no obligation to come to every meet, we will inform you when they are going ahead and you can then sign up to them as when you want to.
