What can Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre offer schools?
The aim of LOPC is to provide high quality, low cost and safe activities for all our users. We use our resources and activities to create opportunities for people to develop as individuals, focusing on young people, people with disabilities and other hard to reach groups. We provide risk assessment for all our activities and our instructors are highly qualified.
Each of our activities is linked to the programmes of study for the National Curriculum at Key Stage 2.
We are able to deliver the following accredited awards:
- Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Community Sports
- AQA Unit Awards Scheme -. Provides the opportunity to give students formal recognition of their success in short units of work.
- BCU Paddle Sport Star Award Scheme – The new Star Award scheme provides the support and encouragement paddlers need to get out and go paddling. The initial awards are generic, encouraging paddlers to experience the various disciplines of paddlesport available.
- BCU Paddle Power Award Scheme – Paddlepower has been designed around the needs of young people – fun, colourful and with easily identifiable progression mapped to the Long Term Paddler Development framework. The BCU recommend Paddlepower as most suitable for young people aged 14 or under.
- The National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme (NICAS) – This is a UK wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. It can be used as a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering. It is open to all candidates aged 7 and upwards.
