Do you love Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre and want to get more involved?

Our Friends of LOPC group is the perfect way to lend a hand, share your skills, and support the centre you care about.
Whether you’ve got time, enthusiasm, practical know-how, or just a passion for helping out, we’d love to have you on board.

What is Friends of LOPC?

Friends of LOPC is a volunteer group made up of people who enjoy being part of our community. By joining, you’ll:
Have opportunities to get more involved with the centre.
Help out when extra support is needed — for example during events, fundraising, or even emergencies like floods.
Share your skills and knowledge — anything from IT to groundworks, to specialist expertise in your field.
Play a part in supporting the future of LOPC.

Who can join?

Anyone aged 18+ is welcome to join.
Under 18s can get involved too, with parental consent and supervision.
You don’t need special skills — just enthusiasm! (Though if you do have specific talents, we’d love to hear about them.)
It’s completely free to join, and you decide how much time and energy you want to give.

How it works

Simply fill in our quick registration form to become a Friend of LOPC.
If you’d like, we’ll record your skills in our secure database so we can match your strengths to upcoming needs.
We’ll keep you updated with a quarterly newsletter, giving you behind-the-scenes news, updates, and opportunities to get involved.
Sometimes we’ll reach out to ask for your thoughts, ideas, or help on specific projects

Why join?

By becoming a Friend of LOPC, you’ll:
Be part of a welcoming community.
Get the chance to learn new things and share your knowledge.
Play a vital role in supporting the centre’s future.
Know that your time and effort are making a real difference.
Here is a quote from one of our long standing volunteers:

"Being part of the river litter pick team with LOPC gives me a sense of belonging and companionship. I always come away with feeling of achievement but also mentally more relaxed. Volunteering means giving time and energy but I get so much more back in terms of serenity and a sense of self worth every time with LOPC. The staff are really supportive, friendly and respect your personal capabilities. I can’t do heavy lifting, and I know it’s ok for me to say ‘I can’t do that’ without any judgement, they accommodate for me. The staff are one of the things that keeps me going back."
