5th January 2021
LOPC Statement following changes to National Lockdown Rule, restriction of activities, continuation of Education & the on-going chaos caused by Covid-19.

At the LOPC we have paused delivery of all activities during the lockdown period starting on Tuesday 5th January until such time as the government restrictions are updated.  We are currently open only for social care intervention, providing support for people with disabilities.  Due to schools being closed and all students required to learn from home where possible, it is no longer possible for us to offer activities to schools.  This includes all the schools that visit us with students requiring additional support that are remaining open throughout this most recent lockdown.  We hope to be able to offer sessions again as soon as possible.

LOPC IS NOW OPEN!

6/11/2020
At the LOPC we have paused delivery of all recreational activities during the lockdown period starting 5th November 2020, to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 and keep both the community and staff safe.  Suspending these activities includes Public session, Birthday Parties, General Hire of Facilities & Services and Corporate Activity Groups.

However, as an important facility for the Education & well-being of parts of the Community, we remain OPEN for Educational Sessions where there are specific learning objectives & intended outcomes, and for Childcare where this is essential, safe and viable for us to offer*.   We also remain OPEN for Social Care intervention to provide support for people with disabilities.

“The government guidance is that schools can use external facilities during lockdown if they are satisfied that it is safe to do so. Link and extracted wording below.

The LOPC office will continue to be staffed and we are keen to accept your Education based bookings during the lockdown, though will require advance booking as all instructors who are not required to deliver sessions will be furloughed.

We are also taking booking for after 2nd December and well into 2021 for Education / Youth Groups, Corporate Groups, Birthday Parties and Instructor Training Courses.  The timetable is filling up for 2021, so please book early to ensure you can come at your chosen time**.

* Unfortunately, we receive no subsidy to support our childcare provision, so where we have insufficient demand for services, we will be unable to financially justify the staffing cost of bring staff off furlough to run the provision.  We cannot offer childcare for just 1 or 2 children.  If your child is sent home from School to self-isolate due to a positive Covid-19 Test in their class / year bubble, they MUST self-isolate, you cannot send them to an alternative childcare provision.

**Due to the obvious concern over Covid-19, if you are able to provisionally book for 2021, we will not require any deposit until 4 weeks before the visit & if further COVID-19 restrictions are imposed by government we will either defer booking for you OR can offer full refund (fixed fee of £25 for administration of refund).

We are now pleased to announce that our organised outdoor activities can now operate in our standard size groups of 10 customers to one instructor.  We request that all customers sign in at reception and wait outside - if bringing a group of children please send 1 adult in to let us know of your arrival and have the children wait as a group outside, rather than coming into reception.

We still have no access to shower facilities, and request that you attend in the clothes you are going to participate in.

17/08/20 -We are open!  Leicester is still in a semi-lockdown situation and we do sit just inside that border.  This means our only current access to LOPC is through our Ofsted registered full day childcare scheme.  This is taking place fully outdoors with each group of 5 having been allocated a tent as a base.
We do hope to open up some more of our services very soon and we are missing all our customers very much!

2/6/20 - We are now making plans to reopen on Friday 3rd July.  We will have small instructor led group sessions (max 5 people) available to book along with the opportunity to hire out canoes or kayaks if you would like to go out on a trip.

We will have a one way system in place indoors, and there is plenty of space outdoors for people to be able to adequately social distance.

We very much look forward to opening our doors again, and getting people back to the fun and exciting activities that they expect from LOPC.

23/3/2020 - We have had to close our doors for now, but we will be back and we will try and keep all of our customers informed.  Stay safe in the strange and uncertain time everyone, and we'll see you when we can.

18/03/2020: As a Centre used for both Outdoor Activities and for Education, we feel strongly that the LOPC, along with many other Outdoor Centres up & down the Country are operating ‘Business as Usual’ right now.    We continue to offer all our normal activities for Birthday Parties, School Groups, Sessions for Everyone, as well as the after school club & Holiday Scheme.  We will also offer additional childcare with outdoor activities for those children whose parents still need to work through this crisis.

LOPC are are thankful to the dedication of all NHS staff at this difficult time and are extending NHS discount to all the activities we offer.

We have had groups on site this week both on the High Ropes Course and out on Canoes.  The teachers coming are very supportive in that our activity provision is a great place for children and young adults to be, outdoors & learning.

·     Our Instructors are fit & healthy, we are making sure the centre is kept clean & have increased the frequency of disinfecting surfaces.

We are happy to have children here who have parents out at work and need a safe place to be for the day.  Being outside rather than inside in close quarters has been recommended.  With us offering outdoor activities for small groups of children, we can facilitate an engaging and exciting place for your child to spend the day.  If your child is currently symptom free and your household is not in self-isolation, you can send them to us. We can look after all children from year 1 upwards.  It is important that people are able to go to work if necessary.

Our days are being ran our our normal daily rate of £30 for 8.30am until 4pm or £40 until 6pm.  We also offer a discount for NHS workers - just give us a call to find out more info about discounts.
