River Litter Pick Team

This is a great opportunity to get out canoeing, meet new people and feel good about having a positive impact on our environment.

Upcoming Litter Picks include:

  • Saturday 15th December 2018, 1:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Saturday 26th January 2019, 1:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Saturday 23rd February 2019, 1:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Sunday 24th March 2019, 12:30pm to 3:30pm
  • Saturday 13th April 2019, 1:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Wednesday 22nd May 2019, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
  • Sunday 16th June 2019, 12:30pm to 3:30pm

It is absolutely free to join and free to come along. All we want to do is go canoeing along the river and pick up as much rubbish as we can find.

Leicester Litter Picking on the River Soar

The problem

Every year tonnes of rubbish is thrown, dumped or finds its way into the River Soar. As well as being a hazard to our wildlife it also completely ruins the place spoiling what should be a pleasant place for people to come and enjoy, whether it’s a canal boat trip, going canoeing or kayaking, or even a walk along the river side.

Our aim

We meet up once every month and spend half a day paddling up the river and picking up as much rubbish as we can in that time. We try to keep the river as clean as we can get it. We also look to clean the banks and tow paths too so we do welcome people who want to walk along side of the river as much as we welcome people to paddle.

River Clean Up Loyalty Scheme

Well to start off with there is an amazing feeling of satisfaction when you can look back at the positive impact you’ve made on the environment. Sometimes we literally pull out a truck load of rubbish in one go, which really makes you feel like you’re making a difference to the river environment.

It is also a good chance to go do some free canoeing along with meeting new people making new friends with like minded individuals.

And to top it all off…… we’ve brought in a new loyalty scheme. So after you’ve completed 5 litter picks you get a booking on one of our Adventure Club sessions absolutely free!!

How to get involved

Canoeing and Litter Picking River Soar

All we need is an Individual Consent Form filling in which you can find on the Useful downloads page.

Then send it to corporate@lopc.co.uk stating your intent to join the team. If you would prefer to mail it please address it to:
