Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre is proud to support Home Education programmes and work with families and parents to help create an engaging, inspiring learning environment.
As part of our set up, we schedule the following:
Home Ed Activity Sessions
Friday β Full Day Social Days
Special Learning Days
AQA Awards, 4 week courses
AQA Awards, 6 week courses
Home Education Activity Sessions
Every Wednesday morning, 9:30am to 10:30am, we run an activity specifically for Home Educated Children. Children can be as young as 5 years, but the activities are suitable for any age. These activity sessions are ideal for developing areas such as motor skills, coordination, problem solving, balance, resilience, self-confidence, or just simply learning a new sport or activity.
We make sure they run just before our weekly courses, so children can attend these sessions, followed by the AQA course. If parents want to join in, just book on too
Friday Socials
These days are aimed to create an environment for children to socialise away from their home, with other Home Ed kids, or young adults. Parents can drop their children off, and collect them at the end of the day. The day runs from 9:00am, to 3:00pm.
During that day, children will attend a variety of activities facilitated by their instructor. This is another chance for children to progress with their motor skills and coordination, build resilience and self-confidence, learn more about outdoor living and other activities they may not normally take part. (This is hands on experience to explore outdoor living and try new activities.)
Home Ed Learning Days
Every term we run a specially themed day, to support learning on different topics. The days typically run from 9:30am to 3:00pm, where parents can drop the children off and pick them up afterwards. AQA Awarded certificates can be given out on completion. We run these days on Thursdays so young people can attend these as well as the weekly Wednesday courses too. Topics can include:
Vikings Day (age 8 and over due to axe throwing)
First Aid Training (ages 8 and over due to carving in bush craft
