A residential experience at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre offers far more than just an overnight stay – it’s a unique opportunity for young people to immerse themselves in the outdoors, challenge themselves, and develop a wide range of skills in a safe, supportive environment.
Set in our scenic riverside location, groups stay in comfortable tents within a designated camping area, creating a sense of community and adventure from the moment they arrive. Right next to the campsite is a fully equipped outdoor classroom, perfect for group briefings, debriefs, workshops, or evening activities such as quizzes, campfire stories, and reflection sessions.
With a longer stay, participants benefit from a much broader programme of activities. There’s more time to take part in an exciting mix of land- and water-based challenges – including climbing, archery, paddle sports, bushcraft, high ropes, team-building tasks and more – all tailored to the group’s age, abilities and objectives. Our experienced instructors deliver each session with enthusiasm and care, ensuring everyone gets involved and grows in confidence.
In addition to the physical challenges, we offer enhanced educational content that supports curriculum-based learning and character development. Workshops and activities can include map reading and navigation skills, environmental education, leadership and communication tasks, and personal development goals such as resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving. These experiences are ideal for meeting learning outcomes linked to PSHE, PE, and outdoor education frameworks.
To complete the experience, we can open up our outdoor pizza oven for an evening of delicious, freshly made pizzas – a real highlight that brings everyone together around the warmth of the fire.
