We are a club that promotes getting people into climbing.  Our objective is to get like minded people together and encourage mountaineering and rock-climbing.

Come and have a go!

If you would like to come down and see what the club is all about please have a look at the list of dates below.  You will be able to see where the club is meeting and what time.  You don't have to let us know you are coming in advance - but it is helpful for our volunteer coaches to know whether to expect a new person!

Membership information:

To become a member costs £15.00.  You must be a member to attend any of the trips we run.

There is a charge of £6 per evening for club nights at LOPC.

For the Tower Climbing Centre and Social Climbing you pay them the entry fee directly and will not need to pay anything to LOPC, unless we are running a coaching session for you.

We welcome anyone from the age of 8 to attend. Benefits of membership include:

  • Regular trips throughout the UK.
  • Access to a network of climbing partners.
  • Climbing coaching and workshops.
  • Help with obtaining Climbing Wall Instructor (CWI) & Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) qualifications.
  • Discounted sessions at LOPC’s Adventure Club.

The Programme:

The programme will consist of a 4 weekly rotation for Tuesday evenings:
Week 1 LOPC (Not between November and February)
Week 2 The Tower Climbing Centre
Week 3 LOPC (Not between November and February)
Week 4 Social Climbing

There will also be weekend days trips every few weeks to different indoor walls in the winter and outdoor crags in the summer.
We also run a variety of longer trips further afield, to Yorkshire, Wales, Portland, Spain and France to name a few.

(Some trips and courses are age restricted.)

Club Nights:

The LOPC nights will run Tuesdays evenings from 6pm, and will mainly be focused on the fundamentals of climbing. There will be time to chat and plan trips away as a group. The club has access to maps, books and experienced people to help. We have a relaxed attitude to how the LOPC nights run and we will have experienced staff on hand to help with any problems you may be having with your climbing.

There will be no Climbing Club at LOPC between November and February due to the cold winter months and our walls being outside.  However we have put together a programme of events, including learn to lead courses and other fun adventures for our members.

We will however still use the other venues such as The Tower and Social Climbing every other week so people can keep their climbing skills sharp!
