What can be covered at LOPC?

Use the eight points of a compass, four and six-figure grid references, symbols and key (including the use of Ordnance Survey maps) to build their knowledge of the United Kingdom and the wider world

How can we achieve this?

We can cover points of a compass, four and six figure grid references, symbols and key within an orienteering session, based on our site maps produced by Leicestershire Orienteering Club. We can also deliver off- site activities such as a walk through Watermead Park or a canoe expedition, where the group plan their route on Ordnance Survey maps and really put their navigation skills to the test. This would also be a good link to rivers within the physical Geography curriculum. This discovery can be delivered by our instructors, or if any of your staff have attended our Outdoor Learning Cards or Teaching Orienteering courses, you can bring your group and use our orienteering course and resources free of charge (subject to availability).
