Course Description

Where an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identifies that there is a requirement for Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners, then this national Award in Emergency First Aid at Work satisfies the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid – the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.

No previous experience required, this course can act as renewal of previous first aid qualification that may be near to expiring.   

Learning outcomes

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Responsibilities and reporting

  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty

  • Assessment of the situation

  • Basic hygiene in First Aid

  • Burns

  • Epilepsy

  • Resuscitation

  • Anatomy

  • Minor injuries

  • Bleeding control

  • Choking

  • Shock

Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor on the day, along with a written assessment. A three year Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (Level 5 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.

    What to wear
    Some scenarios may take place outside, best to wear warm comfortable clothing, you don't mind getting dirty.
