When is it?

18th and 19th December 2018

This was a brand new course for 2018, and replaced the UKCC Level 2 award.  This 2 day training course is for all disciplines.

Course Description

The new Coach Award is aimed at existing L1 Coaches/paddlesport Instructors and experienced recreational or competition paddlers wanting to gain their first formal coaching qualification. The new Coach award offers a great progression for instructors wishing to take their coaching to a higher level.

The Coach Award provides 18 different pathways based on craft, environment and competition. All the former Level 2 qualifications and endorsements are covered by the Coach Award. As the new Coach Awards are direct entry, you can decide when you are ready to undertake the training, without a requirement for star tests/performance awards or other qualifications.  This could considerably reduce the time and cost of becoming a qualified coach.

Training for the new Coach Award comprises a two-day Core Coach course and a two-day Discipline-Specific course, followed by a development period and then a one-day Assessment. The only formal pre-requisite for attending the core training is British Canoeing membership.

The Core Coach Training will explore different approaches to coaching, understanding and enabling learning, and some core coaching skills. Concentrating on the HOW and WHO you are coaching. The course will be a mix of classroom and practical learning. You will be supported in evolving your personal coaching development plan to enable you to take your learning into practice after the course.

Candidates are required to register with their Home Nation Association at any point on their journey to assessment. It is highly recommended that coaches register early to enable access to the eLearning Coach Award package which provides supportive material and signposting to development opportunities.

To register, candidates need to hold Home Nation Association membership. There is no expiry date to the registration. See below for CR Form link.
