The Canoe Award replaces the British Canoeing 3 star Canoe Award.

Your Canoe Award endorses your skill, judgment and decision making when journeying. You will be confident in planning and undertaking canoe journeys on the water in winds up to and including force 3 taking place on grade 1-2 rivers with simple eddy lines. Your award is a sound basis for building the experience and knowledge associated with the Progressive Canoe Award.

Course Cost £150


  • 30th and 31st March 9.30am to 5pm. Course tutor: Katy Groom
  • 29th and 30th April 9.30am to 5pm. Course tutor: Katy Groom

  • 28th and 29th September 9.30am to 5pm. Course tutor: Paul Taylor

The first day will take place at LOPC, however day 2 is usually at Matlock.  You will need to be able to get your canoe to Matlock, as LOPC does not provide transport.
